Elastic Tape (elastic Band)

A: Stretch tape is used to create flexible seals and provide support in both athletic and construction applications. In construction, it's used to seal irregular areas in a building's exterior, such as window openings and wall penetrations, to form an air and moisture barrier. For athletes, stretch tape (like kinesiology tape or athletic tape) is used for muscle and joint support, pain relief, reducing swelling, and enhancing performance without restricting movement.

A: “Resistance bands might not look like much, but they can strengthen your muscles as effectively as more traditional weights,” says Travers. “In many ways, bands put more tension on your muscles and work them longer during movements.”

A: Elastic taping involves applying bandages composed of elastic and adherent material to the affected muscle in the stretch position, starting at the origin of the muscle and continuing until its insertion. Once applied, the tape is then rubbed to activate the pressure sensitive adhesive.

A: Kinesiology tape may remain in place as long as it adheres. On average, a tape will last for 4 to 6 days.

A: Elastic tapes are in the majority made out of polyester fibres in combination with plain rubber threads, one-coloured or with simple patterns. This category includes elastic strings up to the diameter 8 mm, too.

A: Elastic has a small amount of stretch and is commonly seen on the sporting field over a thumb, knee or shoulder. It is usually used in conjunction with rigid tape to allow some movement while maintaining an element of joint protection.
