Woven Elastic Tape

 

Woven elastic band is a ribbon-shaped fabric made by vertically interweaving longitudinal warp yarns and transverse weft yarns on a loom. Its elasticity mainly comes from the elastic fibers (such as spandex and latex) mixed in the yarn. Usually, elastic fibers (such as spandex) and non-elastic fibers (such as cotton and polyester) need to be blended or core-spun in a certain proportion before weaving. Woven elastic tape is often labeled "no-roll elastic," woven elastic is super strong, with distinctive vertical and horizontal ribs. It doesn't narrow when stretched and can be sewn through without weakening.

To judge the quality of woven elastic bands (woven elastic bands), a comprehensive evaluation is required from multiple dimensions such as material, craftmanship, performance, and appearance. Generally, you can judge by following methods:

1 Check the material: Determine the basic performance

The touch and the feeling of high quality woven elastic tape is smooth and delicate, burr free. The proportion of elastic fibers should reach at least 10%. Gently pull the elastic band, if it can rebound quickly after letting go and there is no obvious permanent deformation, it means that the quality of the elastic fiber is good. The spandex or latex fibers can take a part of 15%~20% in the woven elastics produced by Maysun Factory.

2. Check the craftmanship: Affecting durability

The high quality woven elastic bands are tightly interwoven with a smooth weaving surface, there are no skipped stitches, missed stitches, or holes on the surface, and the texture is clear and even. The edges of the bands are firmly locked, no burrs and the cutting is neat. Such as the woven elastic bands' edges are laser cut to ensure the bands perform well under any condition.

For the jacquard/printing patterns of elastic bands, the pattern and the text should be clear, the color is will not fade when rubbed. The jacquard part is combined closely with the base; there are no floating or lines or protrusions.

3. Performance test: The core factor to verify

Elasticity Test: Slowly stretch the elastic band. High-quality products will not break when stretched to 1.5~2 times of the original length. They will rebound to more than 95% of the original length within 5 seconds after letting go. Low-quality products may break or permanently deform when stretched to 1.2 times.

Fatigue Test: After repeated stretching 10 times, observe whether there is obvious relaxation (if the length increases by more than 5%, it means that the elastic fiber is of poor quality or the process is unstable)

Wear Test: Use a rough object (such as sandpaper) to rub the belt back and forth 20 times. High-quality products have no fuzz or damage on the surface; low-quality products may have pilling or exposed yarn.

4. Appearance: Details determine overall quality

Color Uniformity: High-quality products have bright colors and no color difference. Different parts of the same batch have the same color. Low-quality products may have color spots, faded colors, or yin and yang sides (such as uneven dyeing).

Width / Thickness Consistency: Use a ruler to measure the width of the belt at different positions (such as measuring every 10cm). The error should be ≤0.5mm. The thickness is uniform, without local excessive thickness or thinness (affecting the uniformity of force).

Smell

High-quality products have no pungent chemical smell (only a slight textile smell); low-quality products may emit formaldehyde, benzene and other odors due to the use of low-quality dyes or glues, and long-term contact is harmful to health.\

5. Certification: Auxiliary judgment

Check the certification mark

Infant and toddler products must pass GB 31701 (Safety Technical Specifications for Infant and Children's Textile Products);

Export products may have OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 (no harmful substances), GOTS (organic cotton certification), etc.
