The production of high-quality nylon webbing requires refined management of the entire process from raw material selection, production process control to post-processing, and targeted measures should be formulated based on the characteristics of nylon materials (polyamide fibers) (high strength, wear resistance, good weather resistance but easy to absorb moisture and strong heat sensitivity).

Strictly Control the Quality of Raw Materials
The core performance of nylon webbing depends on the quality of nylon yarn, which needs to be controlled from the source:
Choose suitable nylon yarn specifications
We would choose yarn models according to the purpose of the webbing (such as industrial load-bearing, clothing decoration, outdoor products, etc.): nylon 6 (good flexibility, low cost) or nylon 66 (higher strength, better high temperature resistance);
The yarn fineness (such as 210D, 300D, 600D, 1200D, etc.) must be uniform to avoid uneven thickness of single filaments;
And we will choose yarns with no joints, no impurities, and breaking strength that meet the standards (breaking strength is generally required to be ≥4.5cN/dtex, and the elongation at break is controlled at 25%-35%, ensuring that the webbing is both tough and not easy to over-stretch).
Raw material pretreatment
Nylon yarn is easy to absorb moisture and needs to be sealed and moisture-proof during storage (relative humidity ≤ 60%). Before use, it can be pre-dried (60-80℃, 2-4 hours) to remove moisture to avoid tension fluctuations due to uneven moisture content of the yarn during weaving;
Pre-stretch the yarn (stretching rate 3%-5%) to reduce the shrinkage rate of subsequent ribbons.

Front-end preparation: Lay a solid foundation for weaving
The quality of the front-end process directly determines the stability of weaving, and the key control points are:
Precise warping
Tension uniformity: Use a high-precision tension control system to control the single yarn tension error within ±5% based on the elastic characteristics of nylon yarn.
Warp arrangement accuracy: Strictly control the warp spacing through the yarn divider and yarn guide comb to ensure that each warp yarn is arranged in parallel, with a spacing error of ≤0.1mm to avoid overlapping and missing yarns during weaving, affecting the flatness of the ribbon.
Warp winding density: Adjust the winding speed according to the yarn fineness (generally 80-120m/min) to ensure that the warp surface is flat, without bumps or loose yarns (uneven density will cause sudden changes in tension during weaving, causing yarn breakage).
Warp yarn number and color matching control
According to the webbing design drawing, the number of warp yarns is accurately calculated (error ≤ 1) and located by the yarn dividing plate number;
Colored webbings need to be tested for color difference of the same batch of yarns in advance to avoid color gaps after weaving.
Weaving process: Core quality control points
Weaving is a key link in the formation of nylon webbing, and parameters need to be optimized for its high strength and low elongation characteristics:
Loom selection and debugging
We have purchased a great number of high-precision shuttleless weaving machines (such as crochet machines, jacquard machines) to ensure the accuracy of warp and weft interweaving.
Debug the loom cam or jacquard mechanism to ensure that the weft yarn is evenly inserted to avoid sparse and dense paths.
Warp and Weft Tension and Density Control
Warp tension: Dynamically adjusted according to the width of the ribbon (e.g., for a 10mm wide ribbon, the warp tension is generally controlled at 5-8N). For wide ribbons, the edge and middle warp tensions need to be controlled in sections (the edge tension can be slightly higher by 10% to prevent curling);
Weft tension: Stabilize the tension at 3-5N through a weft tensioner (too much tension will break the warp, too little tension will cause the weft to relax and the ribbon to deform easily);
Warp and weft density: precisely controlled according to design requirements (e.g., plain weave warp density 20-40 strands/cm, weft density 15-30 strands/cm), real-time monitoring through a counter, sampling every 10 meters, error ≤1 strand/cm.
Speed and Environment Adaptation
The machine weaving speed will be matched the yarn strength to avoid yarn friction and overheating at high speeds, which may cause breakage.
And the workshop temperature and humidity would be controlled at a proper level which is the best for the webbing production: Temperature 20-25℃, relative humidity 50%-60%, in case the nylon yarns absorb moisture or expand, or cause them breakage.

Post-processing: Improving performance and appearance
Post-processing of nylon webbing needs to solve the problems of dimensional stability, color fastness and feel:
Heat Setting Treatment
We would usually use a high-temperature setting machine (180-200℃, adjusted according to the yarn model) to stretch the webbing to 1.05 times the designed length and then set it (time 30-60 seconds), eliminate internal stress, and ensure that the shrinkage rate is ≤2% (especially for webbing used in outdoor and industrial scenes, shrinkage must be strictly controlled);
And we would keep the webbing flat during setting to avoid wrinkles.
Dyeing and Fixing
Nylon webbing is usually dyed with acid dyes, and the dyeing temperature (95-100℃) and time (30-60 minutes) are controlled to ensure uniform color.
After dyeing, it must be fixed by using a special nylon fixing agent, PH value controlled at 4-5, and washed more than 3 times (water temperature 60-70℃), ensuring that the dry friction color fastness is ≥4 and the wet friction color fastness is ≥3 (to avoid subsequent use of color fading).

Surface Treatment and Feel Optimization
When customers need to improve wear resistance, we usually apply special coating, such as coating polyurethane film, thickness ≤0.02mm.
Soft webbing can be soaked in the softener with moderate concentration. Maysun has been focusing on such treatment for different using purpose.
Full-process quality inspection
Raw material inspection: Each batch of yarn is tested for breaking strength, fineness deviation, and moisture content;
Semi-finished product inspection: During weaving, the width of the ribbon (error ≤0.2mm), thickness (error ≤0.05mm), and the presence of broken yarn/hairiness are sampled every hour;
Finished product inspection:
Physical properties: tensile strength (≥500N/25mm), elongation at break (in accordance with design requirements), temperature resistance (no cracking after baking at 100℃ for 2 hours);
Appearance: no jumper wires, color stains, or joints (≤1 joint per meter, and must be flat);
Dimensional stability: After 24 hours of boiling (95℃), the shrinkage rate is ≤1.5%.
